Large Animal Veterinary Services in Statesville & Iredell County
Preventive care, routine medical services, and select urgent treatment for horses and farm animals.

Care Designed for Horses and Farm Animals
North Iredell Animal Hospital provides veterinary care for horses and select farm animals, including goats, sheep, pigs, poultry, and other small livestock. As a mixed-animal practice serving Statesville and the surrounding Iredell County community, we understand the role these animals play in daily life, whether for performance, production, or personal enjoyment.
Our large animal services focus on preventive care, routine medical needs, and select urgent concerns, with an emphasis on clear communication and appropriate referral when advanced care is needed.
We offer both farm call and haul-in appointments, depending on the needs of the animal and the service being provided.
Thanks For All You Do...
These are great folks, so glad I found them. In office or at our farm could not be happier with the service and treatment of our fur babies and hoof babies . Thanks for all you do.

Preventive and Wellness Care
Preventive care is the foundation of long-term health and performance for horses and farm animals. We focus on proactive wellness care designed to identify concerns early, reduce disease risk, and support overall wellbeing.
Routine wellness visits include a comprehensive physical examination and discussion of each animal’s use, environment, nutrition, and management. Keeping vaccinations current is an essential part of preventive care, helping protect individual animals as well as the broader herd or flock from preventable disease.
Annual fecal analysis is strongly recommended for horses and farm animals. Fecal testing allows us to assess parasite burden, guide targeted deworming strategies, and reduce unnecessary medication use while supporting responsible parasite management.
For certain animals and medical conditions, annual bloodwork may be recommended as part of routine wellness care. Blood testing can help detect early or subtle changes before clinical signs become apparent and is especially important for animals with known or suspected medical conditions. This includes conditions such as Cushing’s disease (PPID) in horses, as well as other metabolic or systemic concerns.
Preventive services are available through both farm calls and haul-in appointments, depending on the animal, services needed, and owner preference. Our goal is to work alongside you to create a preventive care plan tailored to your animals’ specific needs, supporting health, comfort, and longevity.

Equine Dental Care (Floats)
Routine dental care plays an important role in maintaining comfort, proper nutrition, and performance in horses. We provide dental examinations and floating as part of routine preventive care.
Dental services are typically performed during farm calls or haul-in appointments and are tailored to the individual horse’s age and needs.
Diagnostics & Imaging
We offer diagnostic services to support accurate and timely medical decision-making for large animal patients.
Our capabilities include:
- Laboratory diagnostics
- Field-based evaluations
- Mobile digital radiography for horses and livestock
When additional diagnostics or advanced imaging are needed, we work closely with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.
Farm Calls & Haul-In Services
We understand that flexibility is essential in large animal medicine. We offer both farm call and haul-in appointments based on the type of service being provided and the needs of the animal.
Farm calls are ideal for routine wellness care, vaccinations, dental work, and evaluation of select medical concerns. Haul-in appointments may be recommended for diagnostics, procedures, or situations where additional support is needed.
Our team will help guide you in determining the best option when scheduling.
Urgent & Emergency Care
We provide evaluation and treatment for select urgent large animal conditions, including:
- Colic
- Choke
- Lacerations and wound care
Because we are not a full-service emergency or surgical referral facility, some emergencies may require referral for advanced diagnostics, surgery, or intensive care.
We offer limited after-hours emergency availability. When you call after hours, you will be connected to a line where a veterinarian can provide guidance and help determine next steps. In some cases, an emergency farm visit may be available; in others, referral to a specialty hospital may be recommended.
Our priority is ensuring animals receive the most appropriate level of care as efficiently as possible.
Hospitalization & Referral Care
Limited hospitalization may be available in select circumstances. However, for cases requiring intensive monitoring, advanced diagnostics, lameness evaluations, or surgical intervention, referral is often in the animal’s best interest.
We routinely coordinate care with trusted referral centers
