Senior Pet Care in Statesville, NC

Proactive monitoring and compassionate support to maintain comfort and quality of life in the senior years.

Thoughtful Care for Aging Pets

As pets age, their needs change, and subtle health concerns can develop more quickly than many pet parents realize. At North Iredell Animal Hospital, our senior pet care focuses on early detection, comfort, and preserving quality of life through attentive, proactive care.

We typically recommend wellness visits every six months for senior pets. Because pets age more rapidly than people, these visits allow us to monitor changes closely, identify developing concerns earlier, and adjust care plans as needed. Detecting changes early often provides more treatment options and supports better long-term outcomes.

What to Expect During Senior Wellness Visits

Senior pet visits may include:

  • A comprehensive physical examination
  • Discussion of mobility, appetite, behavior, and lifestyle changes
  • Diagnostic screening, such as bloodwork, urinalysis, or other recommended testing
  • Pain assessment and mobility evaluation
  • Nutritional guidance and weight management support

Many age-related conditions, including arthritis, kidney disease, heart disease, and endocrine disorders, may progress quietly at first. Regular monitoring helps identify these changes before they significantly affect comfort or daily function.

Our approach to senior care is individualized and compassionate. We take time to listen to your observations, answer questions thoroughly, and work with you to make informed decisions that support comfort, function, and overall wellbeing.

Whether the goal is to maintain an active senior’s mobility or provide support for a pet with chronic health conditions, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.

North Iredell Animal Hospital is the best vets we’ve ever had!!!! Awesome health care animal loving team!!!
